用巨额奖金炒热话题的益智问答节目《百万大富翁》在印度受到广大的欢迎！参加节目的人只要答对12道题目，就能获得高达2000万美金！不过12道题目可是五花八门，题题难上青天，就连上知天文、下知地理的博士级人物也无法完全答对。
不料今天来参加录像的参赛者，杰玛-马利克，一个在孟买贫民窟长大的孤儿，既年轻又青涩、也没上过大学，竟然一连答对11个问题！只差最后那么一题，就要捧回2000万……观众、所有人，内心不禁都悄悄起了疑心：“难道是作弊？”
节目录像暂停，制作单位找来警察逮捕杰玛。为了证明清白，杰玛娓娓道出自己在贫民窟成长的故事，说明一段又一段超乎想象的不寻常经历，让他如何能回答出这些刁钻的难题；还有那个他深爱但最终失去的女孩…
重回节目现场，还剩下最后一道题目，杰玛就要成为百万富翁，而全国观众都在电视机前，等待他的答案。
